Rock, Paper, Scissors! : Ernest Zacharevic in Barcelona

Some time back, we were fortunate enough to catch Ernest Zacharevic's first ever Europe exhibition in Montana Gallery, Barcelona. It may seem that a gallery setting may diminish the feeling of spontaneity and dynamism present in street art. On the contrary, the indoor setup compels viewers to focus on the details of the artworks, thereby accentuating Mr. Zacharevic's personal style of using daring colours and thought-provoking juxtapositions to communicate his ideas.Affably known as Zach among fellow Penangites (residents of his adopted hometown, Penang), his use of graffiti art materials combined with the more traditional methods of painting brings a sense of seriousness to his seemingly "playful-at-first-sight" artworks.
